  1. Update on Syslogd 2.0 status:

  3. I have fallen behind on my update schedule for v2.0.  I am back to a fairly regular programming
  4. schedule now, after a hiatus of about 2 months. I had other commitments
  5. that took precedence over my freeware programming.
  6.  
  7. New features already implemented:
  8. -Listen for Network syslog messages (still some bugs though).
  9. -Full support for Facilities.
  10. -AppleScript support. (This was retro-fitted onto the 1.0 base, so it could be made available sooner.)
  11. -Complete redesign of the Preferences Editor GUI. (Now called Syslogd Admin and located in the Control Panels folder.)
  12.  
  13. Planned Features: (In descending order of priority.)
  14. -Log Archiving (started).
  15. -Handle multiple messages in the same manner as the UNIX version.
  16. -The ability to log to a remote host.
  17. -Trap AEQuit from Finder only, and log that we received it. This can help with crash detection.
